Vulcan invited to attend IFE’s Cheshire Group AGM

16th May 2017

On 8th May MD Graham Holloway and a former course delegate Simon Tate were invited to attend the IFE’s Cheshire Group AGM meeting followed by a Lecturette final at Fire Service Headquarters, Winsford by Simon Gibbins and Mark Cashin.

Graham said: "We were both made very welcome by all the fire service staff attending the meeting. Simon and myself volunteered to be the fire trade officials of the group."

Following the AGM they both then attended the lectures of the six finalists in the lecture competition, which were very diverse and covered airport firefighting, fire dogs, history of female firefighters, confined entry procedures, fire apprentices and fire safety protection influence on fire fighters safety. The finalists ranged from apprentice fire fighters to a watch manger working in fire protection.

All the lectures were to a very high standard and showed a lot of spirit especially for the volunteer fire fighters. Congratulations to the winner Lee McGarity who demonstrated a dust explosion live in the room with a not so sure colleague who was volunteered by Lee! There were no losers in this final and the judging panel had a very hard job to pick a winner.

The people of Cheshire are in safe hands with an enthusiastic fire service protecting them.

Graham strongly advises Vulcan’s delegates to get active in their local IFE branch.

A big 'Thank You' to Simon and Mark for an entertaining evening.
