Fire Manager Advanced Course (5 day & project)

Overview

Introduction

This course is designed for delegates who have passed the Fire Manager Course (9 day) who wish to enhance their professional standing.

Upon successful completion of the 5 day course, and moderation of the project produced, delegates will be eligible to apply to the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) or the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) for enhancement of their professional grade up to and including Member level, subject to the relevant institute’s validation procedures.

The project is intended to be a working document useful in the workplace, not just a course exercise.

About the course

The 5 day course, plus project, takes delegate knowledge to the next level on more complex premises and multi-story buildings covering advanced fire safety provision, advanced fire risk assessment and advanced managing fire safety.

Fire Safety Management Project

Compile at least a 10,000 word paper on fire safety in a large organisation within 6 months of the course including:

  • Fire risk assessment report for large building
  • Fire emergency plan for a large building
  • Compile and present fire warden training for workforce
  • Produce suitable building fire records
  • Compile suitable fire procedures for a building including the fire action notice

Delegates are required to bring their own laptops which must have Word and Excel software but must not be encrypted and able to read a pen drive. If the use of a Vulcan laptop is required, a request must be made in writing when booking the course.

Successful candidates on the Vulcan Fire Manager Course (9 day).

Health and Safety, Fire Safety practitioners and fire industry personnel looking for an advanced, nationally recognised, fire safety management qualification who are members of one of the Fire Institutions.

NB: Proof of eligibility to enrol will be required – holders of the NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate will be required to provide evidence of success in order to attend the Conversion to Fire Manager Course (5 day) prior to enrolling on this course.

Accreditation

  • The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) for whom Vulcan is an Approved Centre has accredited the course at Member (MIFSM) level.
  • The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) has recognised the course as an education programme subject to their validation at Member grade.

Qualification achieved

On successful completion of the 5 day course and moderation of the project, delegates will be awarded a Vulcan Fire Manager Advanced Course certificate and be able to apply for up to Member level with the IFSM and IFE according to the Institute’s membership validation criteria.

There are 4 open-book examinations during the course leading to:
